Aloha Friends, Welcome to Another Testament of Jesus Christ Podcast where we will be reading the Book of Mormon...let me tell you a little about myself and how this all came to be. I am Native American, my father is from the Yakima and Tulalip tribes and my Mother is from the Lumbee tribe. I love to Hoop Dance and was raised on the Pow Wow Trail. We grew up with a Love for our Culture, our Heritage and a desire to share it with the world. I met the Love of my life at BYU while performing in a touring dance group called Living Legends. He is a Maori Guy from New Zealand but was raised in Laie Hawaii. Which is where we live now. We have 7 amazing kids, 4 girls and 3 boys, Our Oldest is 13 and our baby is 2. They keep us busy around the clock, with sports, dance, and music lessons. Through all that life has to keep me busy I am so excited to take some time out to Jump into the Book of Mormon with you.
This Journey started for me last year when the Prophet asked all the Women of the Church to read The Book of Mormon by the end of the Year. I was shocked because it was already October and so that only left us about 3 short months. Which meant a couple of chapters a day? I have never read it that quickly before. BUT.... I decided to take on the challenge,
I thought to myself if I could find a pod cast out there... I would be able to get much more done in the time I had while being a mother of 7. Well upon my looking, I didn't find very much. So, I decided to recorded it myself .... I did just that.... I recorded the entire Book of Mormon on my own personal phone. Now I listen to the scriptures all the time as I drive my kids from one event to the next, while folding laundry or even just as I am running errands around town.
I began to think, and wish I had a recording of my Grandmother reading the scriptures. That somehow it would transcend time, and it would be as if I was reading with her now, still learning from her even though she has already passed away. The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of creating something my family could keep and learn from forever.
Something that I would be able to share, something simple, something easy, something real, and meaningful.
Whether you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or just curious about what we think? I invite you to join me on this journey, as I read, investigate, search, and ponder about the things the lord has decided to save, and share with us at this time, in this day and age for a very specific reason. Let’s see if we can figure out how these words can apply to our own lives.
Along the way I will invite others to join in my journey and read with me. I have always felt there is so much we can learn when we have an open mind and hear one another’s perspectives. The possibilities are limitless when our potentials are combined.
